Artwork for Bunbury Biennale 2019

The starting point for her current work began 2013 in the Czech Republic when the artist revisited her mother’s homeland. This particular artwork “Remembering” is heavily influenced by her participation last year in a Finnish residency at Arteles Creative Center called Silence Awareness Existence.

Dare is interested in the threads of individual’s narratives. The gentle strands and crude stitches formed through the pattern of conditioning imposed by external and internal influences. Weaving filters to see through, blankets to comfort, nets to save us and maps by which to navigate our life. Formed by our simple yet almost all consuming need to survive and our equally strong desire for comfort.
